Prescriptive analytics answers the question, ‘what should be done to achieve the best outcome?’. Prescriptive analytics considers various constraints, objectives, and scenarios to provide decision-makers actionable insights. It takes into account the potential impact of different decisions and recommends the optimal actions to maximise desired outcomes or minimise risks. Prescriptive analytics techniques include optimization models, simulation, and decision analysis. Organizations can use prescriptive analytics to optimize resource allocation, strategic planning, and operational efficiency. For example, a logistics company can utilise prescriptive analytics to determine the most efficient routes for deliveries, considering factors such as traffic conditions, delivery deadlines, and vehicle capacities.
